A Comprehensive Wedding Photography Timeline

Tips, Weddings

From Engagement to ‘I Do’

Planning a wedding is an exciting journey, and capturing every beautiful moment along the way is essential. At Edgerly Photography, we guide you through the photography milestones, ensuring your memories are preserved perfectly. Here’s a comprehensive wedding photography timeline to help you understand what to expect and how to prepare.

Engagement Shoot

6-12 Months Before the Wedding: The engagement shoot is the first step in your wedding photography journey. It’s a great opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera and build a rapport with your photographer. Choose a location that’s meaningful to you both, and consider coordinating outfits for a cohesive look. The photos from this session can be used for save-the-dates, invitations, and your wedding website.

Pre-Wedding Consultation

2-3 Months Before the Wedding: As your wedding day approaches, schedule a consultation with your photographer to discuss the timeline, key moments, and any specific shots you want. This ensures everyone is on the same page and helps the photographer plan accordingly. Bring a list of must-have photos and any special details you want captured.

Rehearsal Dinner Coverage

1 Day Before the Wedding: If you’ve opted for rehearsal dinner coverage, this is a wonderful way to capture candid moments with close family and friends. It’s a more relaxed environment, allowing for natural interactions and heartfelt speeches.

Wedding Day Photography

The Big Day: The wedding day is divided into several key photography segments:

  • Getting Ready: Candid shots of the couple preparing for the day.
  • First Look: An intimate moment for the couple to see each other before the ceremony.
  • Ceremony: Capturing the vows, ring exchange, and first kiss.
  • Portraits: Formal photos with the wedding party, family, and newlywed portraits.
  • Reception: Documenting speeches, first dance, cake cutting, and party.

Post-Wedding: Photo Editing and Album Design

6-8 Weeks After the Wedding: After your wedding, the photographer will meticulously edit the photos, ensuring each image is perfect. After 24-72 hours most photographers will send sneak peeks. Then once the full gallery is done you will select your favorites for prints if this applies to your package.

Album Delivery

3-6 Months After the Wedding: Once you’ve made your selections, the photographer will design and print your wedding album. This beautiful keepsake is the final step in your photography journey, allowing you to relive your special day for years to come.

By understanding this wedding photography timeline and preparing accordingly, you’ll ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience from engagement to “I do.” At Edgerly Photography, we’re here to capture every cherished moment along the way.
